March 04, 2014 The draft standard on respiratory protective devices ISO CD 17420-1 and ISO CD 1724-2 are not yet good enough, according to ISO members. The result of the ballot among ISO member Countries was that the draft standards should be further improved before becoming a DIS (Draft International Standard). The standard drafters, who had developed the Committee Drafts (CDs),best replica watches were convinced that they were mature enough to become DIS, the status that precedes publication as an International Standard (ISO). Instead, this vote by ISO will force them to further improve the documents before these can be submitted again to a formal ballot. Over six hundred technical comments for each CD reached the technical committee secretariat held by DIN, the German Standards Institute. The unusually high number of comments, expressed by industry and other stakeholders, indicated that the market considers this draft as not ready yet. The vote involved all ISO member bodies. A total of 22 countries were called to express a position. The large majority, 13, was against; only 4 were in favour and 5 abstained. SME Safety President Alberto Spasciani welcomed this vote: “this is the result of the joint efforts of many SMEs around the world that voiced their concerns about the ISO approach and requested standards adapted to their needs. SME-Safety is committed to further contribute to the standardization works in order to make standards good for SMEs”. |
